Edinburgh Autism Plan Consultation

The City of Edinburgh Council already has set out plans for people with autism who also have a learning disability. However it has been identified that there are significant gaps in provision for people with autism who do not have a learning disability.

To address this, a group of people affected by autism and professionals involved in their support have been meeting to develop a draft plan.

A consultation is out on the draft joint City of Edinburgh Council and NHS Lothian plan and would welcome your views. You can see this plan at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/autismplan  and there is an online consultation questionnaire which can be completed on this website. The consultation runs to 26th July. Additionally there is a DVD and 2 focus sessions for social work staff on Thursday 30th May in the City Chambers :

10am – 11.30 am,  Midlothian Suite or 2pm – 3.30pm , Midlothian Suite

The sessions will –

  • Provide background information on the development of the draft plan
  • Highlight the priorities in the draft plan
  • And seek the views of social work staff in identifying service improvements for people with autism who do not have a learning disability.

Please contact autismplan@edinburgh.gov.uk  to confirm a place.

You can also request a print version of the questionnaire from autismplan@edinburgh.gov.uk or contacting 0131 553 8419.
