Trafficking and Exploitation Strategy for Scotland

The Scottish Government is now under a statutory obligation to prepare and publish a Trafficking and Exploitation Strategy for Scotland.  This must be published by 31 May 2017.  The three main themes of the strategy are:

  • Identify victims and support them to safety and recovery
  • Identify perpetrators and disrupt their activity
  • Address the conditions that foster trafficking and exploitation

On 12 October 2016 the Cabinet Secretary for Justice launched a public consultation on the draft strategy.  You can read the draft strategy and provide a response to this by following this link https://consult.scotland.gov.uk/human-trafficking-team/a-human-trafficking-and-exploitation-strategy/.  The Scottish Government is keen to hear from as many people as it can. We hope to present a session on this topic in the foreseeable future.
