ELPF April Meeting 2018

Hello Everyone,

We would like to invite you to come along to the next ELPF which will take place at:

City Chambers – Council Chamber on Monday, 23rd April from 09.30 – 12:00.

The Forum is open to all front-line staff from students, newly qualified workers and our more experienced colleagues. It offers an opportunity for reflection, finding out about new developments across the city and discussion about how these things affect you in your work.

It would be great if you could block out time in your diary to attend. Remember, the ELPF can feature in your ‘Looking Forward’ Conversations and for new workers, can count towards your PRTL. There is also tea and coffee (complimentary, so even better) and a chance to get to speak to workers who you may not otherwise come into contact with.

Agenda for the meeting:

  • Edinburgh; A Restorative City- What does this mean and how does it affect us as workers?
  • SWIFT-  what are the good bits, what are the bits that could be better- this is your opportunity to feedback as the workers that are using the system on a daily basis.
  • ‘What’s important to me?’- In the context of end of life care, Andrew Reeves will discuss his research with Marie Curie and we will have a discussion about how we can use this question in our work with clients.

Hopefully the morning will be interesting for you all and will include something for everyone. Please share this amongst your networks and with anyone who you think would be interested.

Look forward to seeing you there,

Andrew, Dave, David, Heidi, Lauren, Leigh and Lynne

We’ll be back soon!

We’ve not forgotten about you – we’ve just had a short break to do some personnel changes (some people moving on and others joining the fold) and we will have dates for meetings shared as soon as possible. We plan on having two meetings this year, one focusing on the ‘Best Bits’ of the past ten years of the ELPF and another focusing on Edinburgh as a ‘Restorative City’.

Please get in touch if you’d like to be more involved, the ELPF is an excellent networking and learning forum.

Cancelled Meeting

Just a note to advise that the final meeting of 2017, originally scheduled for Thursday 30 November, has been cancelled.

We would be grateful if anyone with ideas for future meetings or format of the Forum would get in touch via localpractitionerforum@edinburgh.gov.uk. The current team of co-chairs have been in place for a number of years (8-10 in some cases!) and we would appreciate approaches from anyone interested in co-chairing the Forum, or simply proposing ideas for future meetings. The ELPF is your forum and needs your contributions!

Would you like to get involved?

Many thanks to Linda Clark and Pamela Fotheringham from the SSSC for coming along to the ELPF meeting today. They will keep in touch regarding feedback given to them from practitioners today. Continue reading ‘Would you like to get involved?’

Thanks

Many thanks to the Community in Motion team and particular thanks to those who shared their stories today.

If you would like to feed back on the SSSC fee increase please email us, localpractitionerforum@edinburgh.gov.uk.

Likewise, if you have any suggestions for future meetings please get in touch. We always welcome suggestions from our attendees.

Next ELPF meeting – Monday 27 February

Agenda for the next meeting to be held at the European Room, City Chambers. You are welcome for some or all of the meeting. We also hope to use the break time to glean some views on the rise in SSSC fees, and to discuss whether we would like to put in a collective response to the decision. Look forward to seeing you then.
