Help Cure the Stigma of Dementia

As part of the Dementia Friendly Edinburgh initiative, we are running a campaign to raise the awareness of the stigma of dementia over the next few weeks.

The campaign was devised with the help of people with dementia and their relatives who came up with the main theme of the campaign

‘For someone with dementia, It’s the little things that make the difference’.

Live Well in Later Life

The next Live Well in Later Life Information Day will take place on Wednesday 12 March between 11am and 3pm at the Faith Mission Halls, 548 Gilmerton Road, EH17 7JD. Details here: Live Well in Later Life Information Day

Dementia Awareness Workshops (CEC Staff)

Cases of dementia in Edinburgh are predicted to more than double in the next 20 years, with a multi-agency campaign recently launched urging people to recognise the signs and to seek help and support.

This month, UNISON is offering a free dementia workshop at Waverley Court, delivered by the Open University. The workshop is open to all staff, regardless of whether they are a member of a trades union.

The workshop is a great starting point for staff who work with clients who have dementia or who have friends and families affected by it. The session aims to help people identify some strategies employed and raise awareness of support mechanisms available.

Today’s meeting
