ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

Alan Laughland explained about the ASIST training at our last Practitioner Forum and there are now new dates available on myHR for CEC employees. If you are an employee outwith the Council please contact Alan Laughland direct to apply for a place

Wednesday 9 September

As part of National Suicide Prevention Week there is a film night being held at the Grassmarket Community Project (86 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh EH1 2QA 0131 225 3626) this Wednesday at 6:30pm. This year it’s a double bill exploring how suicide affects older women & younger men:

  • ‘Not Another Monday’ &
  • ‘Football’s Suicide Secret’

6pm open for refreshments; 6.30pm start, Short film 6.30pm-7pm; Main feature: 7pm-8pm. Post Film Discussion: 8pm-8.30pm (approx). Free refreshments (soft drinks & sandwiches) will on offer.

Suicide Prevention Week 5-13 September 2015

Please take a few minutes to view the following:

FREE suicide prevention training for people working in Edinburgh

A mix of FREE safeTALK suicide prevention training ( and ASIST suicide ( prevention training is available NOW (see table below).

Please distribute this through your networks for people that work in Edinburgh and apply as appropriate.

Priority will be given to those working with groups of people at high risk of suicide ( , which is generally organisations involved with Inclusive Edinburgh.
